On July 20, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Old Thomasville Rd. in reference to a reported assault. Upon arrival, the victim provided information and evidence of an assault by two neighbors and the motive was unknown. EMS arrived and evaluated the victim who had sustained some injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
Based on the statement provided as well as the evidence, deputies attempted to locate the assailants at a nearby residence but were unable to reach anyone at the home.
Following the investigation, charges were sought against Tony Mashburn, Jr., for felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury, and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. Charges were sought against Tony Mashburn, Sr., for misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury. The magistrate found probable cause based on the testimony to issue warrants for arrest.
On July 22, 2024, Mashburn Jr. and Sr. were located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their warrant.
Mashburn, Jr., was issued no bond and a first appearance was set for July 23, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
Mashburn, Sr., was issued a $3,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for July 23, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
