On June 1, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Hughes Farm Rd., Archdale. The vehicle had been sitting stationary at the end of the road and started to pull away when the deputy was observed. Upon approach, the deputy observed paraphernalia. The vehicle also had a fictitious tag and no insurance. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine was located. The driver was identified as Garrett Lane Cromer. He was issued a citation for the traffic offenses, the possession of drug paraphernalia, and the possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Charges were sought against Cromer for felony possession of methamphetamine and the magistrate issued a criminal summons.
On June 12, 2024, Cromer was served his criminal summons at the Randolph County Detention Center. A court date was set for June 24, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
