On June 8, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to McMasters St., Asheboro, in reference to communicating threats. Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim who reported being assaulted by Lemmuel Artemus Hill during a domestic dispute and had visible signs of an assault. The victim reported a phone being damaged when Hill noticed that a call to 911 was being attempted. The victim was able to escape and sought help. Hill then left the scene in his vehicle before law enforcement's arrival.
Following the investigation and collection of evidence, charges were sought against Hill as a result of this incident. The magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on female and misdemeanor interfere with emergency communication.
On June 10, 2024, Hill was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his warrant. He was denied bond due to the charges being domestic in nature and a first appearance was set for June 11, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
