On January 31, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Lark Drive, Denton, NC, in reference to a possible overdose.
As a result of the call for service, an investigation was conducted by Detectives with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Through the investigation, Dustin Kenneth Moffitt was identified as a person of interest.
In May 2024, following the investigation, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Detective went before the Grand Jury, who found probable cause for a True Bill of Indictment for Death by Distribution for Moffitt.
On May 29, 2024, the Randolph County Criminal Apprehension Team located and apprehended Moffitt for his outstanding True Bill of Indictment. At this time, he was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Moffitt was taken before the magistrate, who issued a total secured bond of $202,000 and a court date of May 31, 2024.
