On February 8, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible sex offense upon a minor. Following an investigation of the allegations, Criminal Investigation Detectives sought charges against Hugo Ruiz Mendez for felony indecent liberties with a child.
On April 23, 2024, Mendez was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant. The magistrate issued a $15,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for April 24, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
