On April 3, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC HWY 22 N, Franklinville, in reference to an armed subject. Upon arrival, a male subject wearing body armor and armed with a handgun was located by the responding deputy. The subject, later identified as Hunter Jackson Freeman, was detained and his weapon removed, pending investigation.
During the investigation, the deputy discovered the pistol had been reported stolen to Liberty Police Department. Following the investigation, Freeman was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges of Felony possession of a stolen firearm and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. He was issued a $3,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for April 4, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
