On March 30, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Hwy 311 – 311 Flea Market in reference to a stolen trailer possibly being at this address. While enroute, deputies were advised that the trailer was leaving the location. Deputies located the suspect vehicle on NC 62 near Braxton Craven Rd. and conducted a traffic stop. Communications confirmed that the trailer was the same reported stolen out of High Point. The driver of the vehicle towing the trailer was identified as Jimmy Lee Dawson.
Following the investigation, Dawson was placed under arrest. During an inventory of the vehicle for towing, marijuana was located. He was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. While Detention staff was booking Dawson, they located methamphetamines in his possession. When taken before the magistrate, probable cause was found for felony possession of stolen goods/property, felony possession of controlled substance on jail premises, misdemeanor fictitious/altered title/registration card, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to ½ oz., misdemeanor possession marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor operate vehicle with no insurance, and expired/no inspection violation. A first appearance was set for April 1, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
This is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
