On December 10, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff's Office received a report of larceny from a residence in the US Hwy 64 E. area of Asheboro.
On February 2, 2024, following an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, charges were sought against Coty Ann Burkhart for misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods/property. Charges were sought against Christopher Junior Maness for felony obtain property by false pretense, felony possession of stolen goods, and misdemeanor larceny. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and warrants were issued.
On February 24, 2024, Maness and Burkhart were located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their outstanding warrants. The magistrate issued a written promise for both to appear on March 4, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
