On January 19, 2023, the Randolph County Detention Center staff located an illegal substance in the booking area. Upon reviewing the security footage, it was determined that the package belonged to Bobby Ray Wood and was discarded while in the booking area, after arrival.
Following the investigation by the Detention Center Detective, charges were sought against Wood for felony possession of a controlled substance in jail premises and misdemeanor simple possession of Schedule III controlled substance. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and Wood was served with a criminal summons to appear in Randolph County District Court on January 30, 2024.
