On September 14, 2022, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to BB Trl., Asheboro, in reference to a vehicle theft.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Interdiction Team, charges were sought against Brittany Annette Varner for felony larceny of motor vehicle and felony possession of stolen motor vehicle. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On January 6, 2024, Varner was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served the outstanding warrant and received a $2,000 secured bond. She was also served her outstanding orders for arrest for failure to appear and received a $160,000 total secured bond. A first appearance was set for January 8, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
She was also served an outstanding warrant out of Montgomery County for misdemeanor larceny and received a $1,000 secured bond.
On January 8, 2024, while Varner was housed in Booking due to a suspicious item observed in the body scan by the jail staff during the intake process, it was confirmed that Varner had an illegal substance on her person following a secondary x-ray by nursing staff. Following the investigation by the Detention Center Detective, charges were sought for felony possession of a controlled substance on prison/jail premises, felony possession of methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a criminal summons. Varner was served the process and a court date was set for January 29, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
