On January 10, 2024, the Randolph County Detention Center staff located an illegal substance in the possession of Karon Raydell Brown during the booking process. Brown had been arrested at the Randolph County Court House where he had received a sentence of 17-30 months for felony possession of firearm by felon.
Following an investigation by the Detention Center Detective, charges were sought for misdemeanor resist/obstruct/delay an investigation, felony possession of a controlled substance in a local confinement facility, felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The magistrate found probable cause for the charges and issued a $5,000 secured bond.
He was also served multiple orders for arrest for failure to appear in Randolph and Guilford County and received an additional $10,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for the new charges for January 12, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
