The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Detective was notified by NC Probation and Parole that sex offender Zachary Heath Marks was released from the West Virginia Department of Corrections on March 28, 2023. He was told to report and register as a sex offender by April 10, 2023.
The detective did a National Sex Offender search and as of April 12, 2023, Marks had failed to register in West Virginia or North Carolina.
Efforts to locate Marks have been unfruitful and charges were therefore sought. The magistrate issued a warrant for arrest on Marks for felony fail to report new address – sex offender and felony fail to register sex offender. The Probation Officer also obtained a parole violation warrant.
On December 21, 2023, Marks was located by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, WV. He was arrested and held for extradition on a fugitive warrant.
On January 5, 2024, he was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served the warrant. He was issued a $100,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 8, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
