On December 12, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Oak St., Franklinville, in reference to an armed person. The caller had advised communications, that Harley Aviles-Hernandez had stabbed another male subject and was still attacking him. Ramseur Police Department also responded due to a shorter response time but arrived within five minutes of each other. Upon arrival, officers and deputies located the injured victim. EMS and Fire responded to render aid to the victim and then transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
Following the investigation, Aviles-Hernandez was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was issued a $25,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for December 13, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
