On December 9, 2023, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on US Hwy 311, Archdale. As the vehicle approached Tom Hill Rd., the driver continued onto Tom Hill Rd. and passed a gravel pull-off before finally pulling over to the shoulder of the road. As the deputy exited his vehicle, he observed a small object being tossed from the passenger-side window and then made a passenger-side approach on the vehicle where he observed a clear baggie containing what was believed to be an illegal substance. The driver was identified as Alondra Paez Hernandez, whose license was expired.
During a subsequent search, cocaine and paraphernalia were also located. She was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony simple possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana up to ½ oz., misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and no operator’s license. She was issued a $1,500 secured bond and a first appearance was set for December 11, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
