On December 5, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Hwy 421, Staley, in reference to an agency assist request by the NC Highway Patrol who had conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified James Tyler Deen who was found to be wanted for full extradition out of Marion County, Mississippi, for a court order violation. Deen was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. Marion County advised that there was a bench warrant with full extradition issued against Deen on July 13th, 2022, for felony possession of Schedule II controlled substance. Deen was listed as an absconder through Probation/Parole in Mississippi.
Deen was taken before Magistrate Green and charged as a Fugitive from Justice, he was denied bond and a extradition hearing was set for December 6, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
