On November 9, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team assisted the NC Probation and Parole in the search of the residence of April Lynn Hammell and Christopher William Hooker. During an initial search, an illicit substance was located. A K9 with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Special Operations and Intelligence located Methamphetamine that belonged to Hammell.
Also, during the search, a firearm was located in possession of Hooker. He was taken into custody by probation and was served with a probation violation.
Charges were sought against Hooker and the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor communicating threats.
Charges were also sought on Hammell for felony possession of methamphetamine.
On November 13, 2023, Hooker and Hammell were arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where they were served their outstanding warrants.
Hooker was issued a $2,500 secured bond and a court date was set for November 14, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
Hammell was issued a written promise to appear in Randolph County District Court on December 11, 2023.
