On November 5, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to 705 McDowell Road in Asheboro (Han-Dee Hugos) regarding an incident involving counterfeit money. The male had attempted to exchange the counterfeit for smaller bills and attempted to purchase gas. During a subsequent search, the deputy located twenty-three counterfeit $100 bills.
Following the investigation, Brandon Tyler Flinchum-Fenti, who was still on scene, was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of >5 counterfeit instruments and felony uttering forged instrument. He was given a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for November 6, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
