On April 5, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Hwy 64 W. in reference to a 911 hang up. While enroute, Randolph Communications advised that the caller stated a male subject had showed up to their address with a head injury. Upon arrival, the victim reported being assaulted by Brianna Janay Stultz-Newsome. Randolph County EMS responded and transported the victim for evaluation. Following the investigation and collection of evidence, charges were sought against Stultz-Newsom for felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for her arrest.
On May 8, 2023, she was located, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where she was served the warrant. No bond was issued due to the nature of the incident. A first appearance was set for May 9, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
