On February 15, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Finch Farm Rd. in reference to an escort regarding an eviction process. While on the premises and attempting to get the subject to the door, the deputy observed a motorcycle in the carport without a registration plate that the caller stated was not at the residence the prior day. The caller was informed of the rights as the property owner and left the premises.
Shortly thereafter, Randolph Communication advised the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Horry County, South Carolina. Deputies attempted to get James Lawson St. Clair to answer the door but were unsuccessful; the motorcycle was recovered. Charges were sought against St. Clair for felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and the magistrate found probable cause to issue.
On February 23, 2023, St. Clair was located by the Criminal Interdiction Team, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served this outstanding warrant. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 24, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
