On February 19, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a breaking and entering in progress on Oakland Avenue, Asheboro. While enroute, Asheboro Police Department advised they had three persons detained on Peachtree Street, potentially involved in the breaking and entering at Oakland Ave. The caller was a neighbor who reported seeing three people on the property of an abandoned house. Further investigation revealed that one of the subjects, identified as Alex Ryan Presnell, had entered the house. A subsequent search revealed that Presnell was in possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary tools and an item believed to have been stolen from the house. Presnell was arrested and transported to Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony breaking and entering, felony possession of burglary tools and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $20,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 20, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
