On January 18, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a suspicious vehicle and followed them into a parking lot on E. Dixie Dr., Asheboro. During a subsequent field contact with the occupants, the deputy identified a passenger as Rachel Louise Allred, who was a wanted individual with four outstanding orders for arrest. Asheboro Police Officers responded to assist. The driver was identified as Joshua Anthony Josephs, who had an unserved order for arrest for child abuse charges and was out on bond for (2) counts of trafficking heroin, (2) counts of trafficking methamphetamine, maintain a place/dwelling for controlled substance and child abuse. The defendant was court ordered to stay away from Allred. A juvenile located in the vehicle with them was released to family. Both Allred and Josephs were placed under arrest.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, illegal substances, paraphernalia and US Currency were located. They were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. Allred was served her outstanding orders for arrest for felony probation violations. The magistrate found probable cause for charges of felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule III controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Methamphetamine, felony maintain vehicle/place/dwelling for controlled substance, misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor child abuse. The magistrate issued Rachel a $42,000 secured bond and a January 20, 2023, Randolph County District Court date.
Probable cause was found upon testimony of the facts for charges against Josephs for felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor child abuse. He was served his outstanding orders for arrest for child abuse out of Guilford County and received a $26,000 secured bond. A first appearance was set for January 20, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
