[ARCHIVED] Commissioner Meeting Recap for May 5, 2025

The May meeting of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners included the Governor’s Volunteer Awards presentation, consideration of a contract, a public hearing regarding UDO updates, reclassification of a position, and the report from a Planning & Zoning Peer Review.

United Way Executive Director Sam Baker recognized the following as recipients of the Governor’s Volunteer Award: Amy Rudisill, Jo Ann Miller, Dwight & Brenda Ayers, and Maxton McDowell.

Chairman Darrell Frye presented a Resolution in support of Police Week, May 11th – 17th.

A contract was brought forth by Randolph County Sheriff’s Office to consider medical care services for inmates. The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the request.

A public hearing was held to consider updates to the Randolph County Unified Development Ordinance relating to 2024 legislation.  After the public hearing, with no one speaking for or against the proposed changes, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the proposed updates.

Juvenile Day Reporting Center requested a position reclassification from a full-time transportation position to three part-time roles, including one being a Data Entry Clerk. The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the request.

The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) outreach team conducted a Peer Review of the Planning & Zoning Department. The resulting report was reviewed with the commissioners.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is set for 6pm on Monday, June 2, 2025.
