The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to multiple threats directed at County Schools, including Wheatmore Middle and Wheatmore High School. As a precaution, the impacted school was immediately evacuated in accordance with established protocols.

In response, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, along with other local law enforcement partners, investigated each threat as it was received. All reports came through an anonymous reporting application.

To ensure continued safety, additional law enforcement officers were stationed at the school for the remainder of the day. Sheriff Greg Seabolt stated, “We are committed to working with school officials to prioritize the safety of our schools.”

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is currently investigating the source of these threats, with a juvenile suspect identified. This remains an ongoing investigation.

“Hoax threats are crimes. In North Carolina, making or communicating bomb threats is a serious offense with significant penalties under state law. Those who make false threats or spread misinformation causing fear will face consequences,” said Sheriff Greg Seabolt.
