On March 6, 2026, a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputy observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear of Dollar General at Providence Church Rd. and US Highway 220, Randleman. Upon approach, a male, later identified as James Samuel Sams, came from behind the dumpster. During the investigation, it was determined that Sams had two orders for his arrest, one from Wake County and one from Guilford County. During a search incident to arrest, heroin was located. Sams was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of heroin. He was issued a $11,500 secured bond, and a first appearance was scheduled for March 6, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
