Commissioner Meeting Recap for January 5, 2026
The January meeting of the Randolph County Board of Commissioners included retirement celebrations, as well as several project and status updates.
A few highlights:
- Recognized Tim Mangum, retiring with 33.5 years of service with Randolph County Planning & Zoning.
- Recognized Donovan Davis, retiring with 30.5 years of service with the Randolph County Emergency Services.
- Recognized Cindy Trogdon, retiring with 30 years of service with the Randolph County Public Health.
- Jennifer Moran of Cherry Bekaert presented the Audit report (2024-2025) with no material weaknesses; approved
- Randolph County Cooperative Extension Director Lauren Langley requested approval to purchase panels to be used in the arena through grants from Golden Leaf Foundation and Tobacco Trust Fund; approved
- A Letter of Intent was presented to commissioners from Charters of Freedom to move forward with project for Randolph County to display our national foundational documents; approved
- Lindsey Poe of NC ROOTED Community Agriculture presented a proposal for the management of the Food Hub to the commissioners. The Board of Commissioners approved moving forward with contract negotiations with NC ROOTED Community Agriculture to manage the Food Hub.
- Proposed changes to the United Development Ordinance (UDO) in relation to sign regulation updates were discussed and tabled until the February 2, 2026 meeting.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is set for 6pm on Monday, February 2, 2026.
