[ARCHIVED] 6th Annual Blessing of the Badges

blessing 2024

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from across the nation converge on Washington, DC, to participate in several planned events that honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Peace Officers Memorial Day honors federal, state, and local officers killed or disabled in the line of duty.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is presenting a Resolution designating the week of May 12 - May 18, 2023, as “National Police Week'' in Randolph County to the Randolph County Board of Commissioners for consideration of approval at their May 6, 2024, meeting.

In observance, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the sixth annual “Blessing of the Badges” on May 16, 2024.  Everyone is welcome to attend as we pray for and honor every law enforcement officer in Randolph County for their dedication to protecting and serving our community.  The brief service will be held on the Sheriff’s Office lawn at noon.  (Rain location: Randolph County Emergency Services – Emergency Operations Center).
